Here's what I use to convert movies to .mp4 so they're playable on the ipod.

After you convert the movie to .mp4, just move it into itunes and sync.
Relatively easy and I've found this software to be pretty reliable. Good

Ok. I'm a Mac user so I don't think this will help muc, but maybe
someone else that uses windows xp on a pc can chime in as well. I'm
betting you use XP's movie maker to transfer the movies to the
computer is that correct? Then, the next step is to look on Google
for a program that can convert that movie into a format that iTunes
and the ipod can recognize (.mp4). On the mac side we have a program
called isquint that does this really well, but I don't know of a pc
equivalent.
