Re: [applekeynote] Re: Exporting presentations with Quicktimes

Thanks for your help, Steve.  I just cleaned up presentation, made sure it was saved before exporting and everything is working fine.  By the way, is there any indication that there will be a new version of Keynote coming out?  I just started using Keynote instead of Powerpoint and it's much better in many ways (although there are a few helpful features in Powerpoint that I hope will be added to Keynote).  I'm getting ready to begin a big, long-term project and I'm concerned about whether Apple will continue to develop and support Keynote.

I've never run into this problem, I've built several quicktime movies into one presentation.
Not knowing all your details, if it were me, I would start eliminating presentation slides to
determine if one was corrupt for some reason.
1. Save your presentation as a file. I have had a rare problem when exporting a
presentation without doing a simple "save" before exporting.
2. Eliminate one slide at a time if you suspect one might be causing a problem and export
to quicktime just to see if the problem goes away. Process of elimination.
3. I would also re-boot your machine before doing any of the above.

Hi David. I read your post with interest. Based on what you said, I think Keynote is the
"easy" part of what your employer is asking. The only advanced course that I'm aware of
would be to watch the tutorials for Keynote on lynda.com. It's $25 per month to subscribe,
but well worth it. This site has thousands of tutorial videos. If you already know Adobe and
FC, most of your battle is over. With steady practice, you'll understand Keynote in no time.

I do not believe that is possible. That is a feature that would be nice but does not exist
right now. If you know how to edit video, you can possibly work around this. I export my
Keynote presentations into quicktime and then I pull the quicktime file into Final Cut
Express. FCE gives me the ability to edit the audio, transitions etc. After your new edit,
export into quicktime once again. This is the only way I'm familiar with to control audio
over multiple slides.

At this time, I guess you would have a couple of options. You could burn the newest
presentation into a DVD and just show the DVD as your presentation. Or, import your
newest and freshly edited quicktime back into Keynote. You would only need 1
presentation slide to show your entire presentation. Since you are on "autoplay" as you
stated, just show the DVD.

[applekeynote] Exporting presentations with Quicktimes

I'm running into problems when I try to export a presentation as a
Quicktime that CONTAINS builds of Quicktimes. I have some text, then
the Quicktime, then a group (with text and an arrow) and then another
Quicktime. What happens is that when I export the presentation as a
Quicktime, the Quicktimes appear but none of the other builds (text,
arrow) appear at all. Any ideas? Maybe having a Quicktime within a
Quicktime just doesn't work?
Thanks for any help.

[applekeynote] iPhone Video Means What for Keynote?

So - incase you haven't noticed there's some really interesting iPhone developments going on
that would be AWESOME if somehow Apple made a keynote player for the iPhone.

Don't know if you've spoken about this already, but could be cool.

I haven't used that ap, but I have used stagehand which is wonderful, but takes some practice.

Has anyone used this? If so how did you find it?

Omnidazzle still works for me. I've never used in an actual
presentation (I mainly use it for finding my mouse pointer when it's
lost on a large screen), but I've tested it occasionally, and it
works. I tested it again today and it still works. However, you need
to enable it in Keynote preferences: go to Slideshow Preferences and
make sure "Allow Exposé, Dashboard and others to use screen" is
ticked.

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

Here's a writeup I did on how to effectively use OmniDazzle with
Keynote.

http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=164

Once you figure out getting around Keynote's desire to take over your
screen, it's a hoot to play with :)

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

Russ,
I just used OmniDazzle with Keynote. I had seen it in August, got an
update and immediately forgot about it until you said it would not
work with Keynote. I am using Keynote 4.0.3 (2008?) and OD 1.0.2. I
needed to be sure that the universal access button enable access for
assistive devices. (see below) I verified that it works.

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

I used that, too.

Reading through some recent posts, I came across the reference to Les
Posten's presentation on Presentation Magic. He uses a simple overlay
of a drawn circle with a wipe or other build. I was hoping to figure
out how to get an object to leave a trail as it is moved. What I have
in mind is to have a pencil that appears to write, creating a circle
that stays on screen.
