Re: [Apple iPod] Re: Turning the darned thing OFF.

I have a 5th g 60 g model that I hardly ever "turn off". I just pause it and slide the lock button over. After a few minutes it will shut down. If I don't turn it back on for a few hours (or longer) it shuts down completely. In other words, when I move the lock slide to off and hit the wheel to turn it on, the Apple logo comes up before it goes to the main menu.

If I turn it on after being down for less time than that, when I move the lock button over and hit a button, the menu comes right up. That is what is meant by being in stand by mode.

I don't understand what your issue is. If you move the slide to lock does the iPod stay lit up? Does it turn off after a few minutes? Does it stay on until the battery is drained?

Carl ( Anyone have an answer on the volume issue?)

I started this thing thread quite a while back. Since there's no
answer, and only a
suggestion that settling for "standby" mode in some cases is IT. I
suppose there is no
solution and that I'll just spend mounting hours pressing and holding a
portion of the
wheel that may or may not turn it off when I want to. (I'm picturing a
semi-comical rigged
up wall light switch attached to the back of my iPod.)
