[Apple iPod] iPod turns off

This morning when I walked, my iPod kept turning off. The battery is
charged. I think what is happening instead of the screen going black
and the clock showing, it just turns off. Has anyone else had this
problem or know a solution? Thanks for the Assistance.

[applekeynote] Pen tool sensitivity

Hi:
When using the pen tool periodically to outline irregularly shaped
objects, I have difficulty with the software prematurely 'deciding'
that I am done, long before I have finished tracing whatever I am
working on. This seem sto happen more as the shape gets more complex
- as when the outline "crosses over" multiple times - i.e., when
tracing a "zig-zag" shape. I have set mouse repeat setting in Apple
preferences to the slowest possible, I am taking sepcial care not to
double click, yet have found myself going to other software (E.g.
Photoshop) to get my outlines which I then reimport into K4. Is
anyone else encountering this? Is anyone familiar with a way to
adjust pen-sensitivity?
Thanks!

Re: [Apple iPod] New member and new ipod owner here.

Ok, I have sucessfully unencrypted a DVD into VOB files (17 of them).
I have converted the VOB files to MP4 (ipod). Now, is there a way to
combine the 17 MP4 files (each is a small part of the movie) into one
file?

John

[Apple iPod] OK to reinstall?

Just had a new hard drive installed with the old one 'copied' over
(reason, my capacity was filling up). To correct a separate problem,
my engineer deleted a couple of CD copy progs and installed a Nero one

There was a conflict with iTunes telling me 'the registry settings
used by iTunes drivers for copying/burning CDs/DVDs are missing.
This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.
Pls reinstall iTunes'

I needed to update to 7.6.2. so I did that but on opening got a Nero
warning 'Lower or upper filter registry key for CD Rom was containing
incorrect drivers. This was corrected, now reboot'

So - clearly Nero is deleting what iTunes needs to burn my CDs from
iTunes playlists

Speaking with my engineer I've uninstalled Nero but iTunes is telling
me to reinstall iTunes

My previous activity has upgraded me to 7.6.2. so I can't reinstall
from 'Help/check for updates' -as it sees me as being up to date
(albeit I need to overcome this registry settings/drivers problem)

My questions are please:

Will reinstalling iTunes change or overwrite back to zero, my
existing 5,500 song library and playlists etc

If not, should I go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

and 'Download iTunes 7.6 now'

I'd appreciate your guidance/comment. Thanks

I have Windows XP/Home and have a basic PC (i.e not a Mac)

One sorta long winded workaround, since I'm pretty sure safari
bookmarks are synced on the iPod Touch, is to bookmark what you come
across on the Touch, then take it home and sync, then the computer
will have that bookmark, then go back to the site on the computer,
grab the photo, sync again and voila it's on the Touch. Definitely
not as nice as saving directly on the device, but until they implement
a tap and hold gesture on the touch screen to bring up submenus, that
feature won't exist.

Exactly right David. Unfortunately Kirk gave me the bad news that
it can't be done on the Touch. I love my iBook, other iPods, and all
things Apple, but I DO wish they'd put a little more capability into
the iPods.

Re: [Apple iPod] transfer to PC

There will be a number of recommendations. Make
sure you don't pick ipod2computer -- I blew $20 on
that. Some might have good luck, but why gamble.
Go with the other programs suggested.

Re: [Apple iPod] New member and new ipod owner here.

I quote wikipedia:
"The fifth generation iPod plays video in
MP4<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP4>(up to 2.5 Mbit/s) and
H.264 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264> (up to 1.5 Mbit/s, baseline
profile <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_AVC#Profiles> only) formats.
Video such as TV shows, podcasts, music videos, and movies may be purchased
from online stores such as the iTunes Store, or downloaded from Google Video
and other sources, then imported to the iPod via iTunes software."
this also applies to the sixth gen...

or you can do a google for mp4 converter and make your own ipod compatible
videos...

You can't save files on the touch.

Re: [Apple iPod] New Ipod touch

I don't have the touch but I believe the original question was along the
lines of while browsing a web site, for example, they want to same a picture
from that web site. Normally on a PC you can right click the photo and save
it to your PC. The original question is can this be done with a touch.
Like my blackberry. If I see a photo on a web site I want to save I can
select the menu, choose the Select option, highlight the photo and then
select from the menu to save the picture.

Just double-click the playlist and type the new name.

[Apple iPod] Can you re-name a playlist?

I can't find out how to do this, or if it's possible. In the past I've
had to delete the playlist and then start again (fortunately they're
mostly only an album long!). I've looked in Help and can't find anything.

Happy day! I just got the iTouch 16GB I've been drooling over for
a while. I also have a 1st generation Nano and a 5th Gen 30GB video
iPod so I'm no stranger to iPods and iTunes.
I have been trying to figure out if I can save photos I find while
browsing the web. You know; on a computer I would right-click and
select save photo, or the equivalent on a Mac. I can't figure out how
to do this on the Touch, or if it's even possible.
Any ideas? Thanks

Save the photo to where you normally keep your photo(folder)s. Then
when you Synch click on the photo options and make sure that the
iTouch is directed to that top folder. Images from the web are no
different from images you take with your digital camera and they will
all upload to your iTouch.

[Apple iPod] Re: New iPod Touch

Thanks for the reply Jules, but I think you missunderstood. I
want to save the photo while browsing with the iPod Touch, not the
computer. It may not be possible, but I was hopeing it was.

Re: [Apple iPod] Folder question

Hi Jules,

You have two different collections of stuff The second one with the bands/artists directly inside it the BIG one with the actual audio files inside. Not sure about the other one. The Compilations folder arranges its folders by album name, but it should be in the iTunes Music folder. It might be music inside the folder--could be cover art or lyrics or? Borrow down inside and see what kind of files live inside. Music? Graphics? Text? Don't move stuff around on your own; iTunes will get confused. If it is music there you can choose where you want it all to be (set the in the advanced section of iTunes preferences and consolidate library. Otherwise leave those files alone. let us know what you find.

Re: [Apple iPod] Folder question

I'm running Windows XP and in My Music I have a folder called iTunes.
In the iTunes folder are 4 other folders:

Previous iTunes Libraries
iTunes Music
iPod Games
Album Artwork

There are also some other Temp files and a couple of database files that iTunes uses.

Inside the iTunes Music folder is all the band name folders with all the albums by that band in there respective folders.

Sounds like you got duplicated somehow at one point.

I just got my first ipod last week. It didn't take long to figure out

Now evidently comes the hard part. I have yet to figure out how to get
mny music videos or DVD's (movies) onto the ipod. Any help?

John

I would create playlists in itunes. Don't mess with your music
library in windows explorer.

Re: [Apple iPod] Conversion

Yah, I have HandBrake. I just forgot that it does that. iSquint
appears to be a lot slower than HandBrake on my 2.0ghz aluminum iMac...
4gb of ram. I think that iSquint should run a lot faster. It's
reporting 770 minutes left on my first file. I'm doing a standard
conversion.

[Apple iPod] Conversion

Is there a Mac utility that can convert files from .AVI format to an
iPod compatible format? I have some legally bought DVDs that I have
ripped to my iMac and would like to format them for my iPod Nano.

I'm sure this one has been worn to death, but I can't locate the
thread involved.

Re: [Apple iPod] Consilidation problem, second attempt.

Actually. If you use iTunes for the Artwork (Get Album Artwork) and then you
right click the retrieved artwork and then select copy it will travel with
the song.

Re: [Apple iPod] Consilidation problem, second attempt.

If you used Amazon then the artwork is part of the meta data that stays with the mp3 and will move with the mp3. It is only when you tell iTunes to get the artwork that it stores it in another location and does not move with the file.

Re: [Apple iPod] Consilidation problem, second attempt.

I hope you have a backup of all this. Surely you don't want only one
instance of all these files that have cost you so much time?

If you consolidate again to E: then I'm fairly sure that you will have
duplicates. There is a 'show duplicates' option but it will still take
some time to go through the list and delete the unwanted songs/albums.
