Omnidazzle still works for me. I've never used in an actual
presentation (I mainly use it for finding my mouse pointer when it's
lost on a large screen), but I've tested it occasionally, and it
works. I tested it again today and it still works. However, you need
to enable it in Keynote preferences: go to Slideshow Preferences and
make sure "Allow Exposé, Dashboard and others to use screen" is
ticked.

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

Here's a writeup I did on how to effectively use OmniDazzle with
Keynote.

http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=164

Once you figure out getting around Keynote's desire to take over your
screen, it's a hoot to play with :)

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

Russ,
I just used OmniDazzle with Keynote. I had seen it in August, got an
update and immediately forgot about it until you said it would not
work with Keynote. I am using Keynote 4.0.3 (2008?) and OD 1.0.2. I
needed to be sure that the universal access button enable access for
assistive devices. (see below) I verified that it works.

Re: [applekeynote] Drawing on screen

I used that, too.

Reading through some recent posts, I came across the reference to Les
Posten's presentation on Presentation Magic. He uses a simple overlay
of a drawn circle with a wipe or other build. I was hoping to figure
out how to get an object to leave a trail as it is moved. What I have
in mind is to have a pencil that appears to write, creating a circle
that stays on screen.

Re: [applekeynote] Re:New Image Resource Coming!

When asked I say this:

If one does distrubute a Keynote file made with a purchased theme, I ask they strip out master slides not used.

At least then it is a crippled theme if someone saves it to .kth

An indirectly related question for the group - we have had some folks express appreciation for sample files - I have no problem sharing samples with the group - however, I recall that John had some concerns about themes being shared (without being purchased as I agree they should be) - I just shared a few files with another member of the group via a private link - however, there has to be a way in which we can set up a repository of samples - I think such would go a LONG way to get the marketplace to recognize the superiority of Keynote; Obviously, there are several ways in which such could be pursued: We could post actual Keynote files - probably more instructive for the beginners because it would allow them to "take the builds apart" -; We could simply post QT movies, showing what Êcan be done, but give the instructions in a separate document (more work for the posting party); Ê I would welcome a dialogue about how we could structure an "ideal" Key file sharing site....Suggestions anyone?

Re: [applekeynote] Re:New Image Resource Coming!

Preview has a nice masking tool, too. Works a little different from
Keynote's AND doesn't smooth the edges like Keynote does. For optimal
images, Keynote's way works pretty good. For that image I used of
Walt... well I tried, using Keynote's mask for awhile before I gave up
and did it in Preview instead. :)

Re: [applekeynote] Re:New Image Resource Coming!

Yes, experienced users get it quickly because it's stock in trade.
But new users and less experienced users often don't understand layers and Photoshop is overwhelming.

My macworld group is said to be of intermediate levelvso this almost is gee whiz material.

I strongly recommend art text from belight as a great keynote adjunct.

Re: [applekeynote] Re:New Image Resource Coming!

Just guessing. You made a custom shape and masked to shape so you just have the inner part,
then it just sits on top of the image with another copy of the clip behind the image.
