exact procedure described. Transfer into the music library, then
select and try to move to the playlist. That would not seem to
work. Then, as I was trying to find the tracks, one or more of the
tracks just disappeared and had to be re-imported a track at a time.
I've done this successfully before with music (several hundred CDs)
without problem, but there was something about these disks that
created problems.

Just did this on my iMac aluminum and the transfer worked perfectly.
I also added the resultant tracks from 4 cds that I had ripped into
playlists no problem Are you sure you're doing it directly from the
'music' library selection of iTunes? Going from one playlist to
another doesn't work AFAIK.
