[Apple iPod] Updating iTouch

I hooked up my iTouch to my notebook to sync some music. Got a message
telling me that Updates were available. So, I click ok and it took
about 1.5 hrs to download the upgrades and then ...it started to
upgrade my iTouch. Then...everything froze. The notebook as well as
the iTouch. So, I called the local Apple Store and was told I would
need to restore my iTouch. Grrr!! Any idea why this may have
occurred? Now ...I'm worried what will happen when I try that upgrade
again.
