Re: [applekeynote] Re: How do you tell someone they have bad breath...er a bad PP presentation?

Bad breath notwithstanding, I think that the ridicule offered in the clip is a bit less than helpful.  It pressures people to operate according to rules that, though often useful, are not ALWAYS useful.  For example, I teach biology and I put a great deal of material into my presentations.  It's the nature of the beast.  Sometimes I break material into multiple slides because it works best that way.  However, I sometimes I place lots of material on a single slide.  Lots of bullet points and words on ONE slide!  This is done quite intentionally because it works better that way in these cases.  This generally involves individual slides that take lots of time to work through step by step.  Sometimes its best to divide these into multiple slides but sometimes its NOT because its helpful to have material juxtaposed on the same slide for reference.  With apologies to the stand-up comic, the same rules do not always apply to every slide in the universe.
Cheers!

I like this clip, because it makes a joke that softens the blow:

Don McMillan gives a presentation that exhibits a series of no-nos
such as horrendous colour schemes, masses of bullet points and so on.
It only scratches the surface of presentaional skills, but it's
amusing to watch and it MIGHT just cause a friend or colleague to
start thinking about their own presentational style.
