[Apple iPod] transfering my DVDs to my iPod

If it is OK to transfer my CDs to my iPod, how can I have my DVDs
placed on my iPod as well. I have a Mac (best computer in the world)
with Panther on it. I am just learning what can be capable with my
iPod. Also, I would like to learn all the cool stuff that can be done
with it. I have a black 30gig (i have to be careful how this sentence
is displaying)Can anyone help me?
