[Apple iPod] Re: Dowloading DVDs to iPod

I guess the resident iPod group experts aren't interested in this one!

So I got some help at my local Apple store. . .and wanted to pass this along to others who
might appreciate the advice:

1: Download latest Handbrake (free shareware). . . v 0.9.1 (released 10/8/07) - for MAC
hardware only.

2: Once loaded. . .with source DVD in media drive. . .make sure to click on the "iPod High
or Low Resolution" preset (right hand side of control panel).

Note that even with the latest iMac hardware. . .importing a 90-120 minute movie will still
take 50-60+ minutes.

Do NOT use the "normal" preset. . .it is not downloadable to your Video (5-5.5G) or Classic
(6G) iPod models.

Also, you will need an AV Component cable to watch movies (residing on your iPod) on a
TV screen. There are two different cables though, depending on whether you have a Video
or Classic iPod. . .the first uses the earphone jack for output, while the latter uses the
bottom connection for output.

Hope this helps!
