[Apple iPod] Dowloading DVDs to iPod

I'm attempting to use latest handbrake software.
Was successful in downloading a DVD to my iMac.

And while it plays in iTunes an error message appears saying that the
DVD cannot be downloaded to my specific iPod.

Which is puzzling because it's an 80 GB iPod. . .actually 5.5G and not
6G (which is now called "iPod Classic"?)

Please advise how to resolve as I would like to: (i) import DVDs to my
iMac, and (ii) download to my iPod.
