Hi Kirk. Yes, I followed Apple's instructions to the letter. I told iTunes where I wanted the
new library to be (Preferences-->Advanced-->General-->Change-->New Folder--
>Create-->OK-->Consolidate Library). All seemed to be going well, but it just quit
abruptly. No warning. No error messages. Still don't know why it stopped.

The article that you mentioned, I looked in your website at iPod and Itunes articles, didn't
see anything on the subject of moving one's library, except for a piece you wrote for
MacWorld, "Manage a large iTunes Library." At the end you said,

"Sidebar: Time to make a move

If your library is getting too large to fit on your hard drive, it's probably time to relocate to
a different drive. Here's how.

To move your library, first copy your entire iTunes Music folder from your user folder
/Music/iTunes to the new drive. Then select iTunes: Preferences, select Advanced, and
then select the General tab. From here, click on the Change button, navigate to the new
location of the iTunes folder, and click on Choose. iTunes will now look for your files in
the new location, and it will also put new additions there."

So, I can just drag and drop my library to the new drive and tell iTunes its new location?
The only step that I can see that is different is that you copy the library, while iTunes does
the same by consolidating. Does it make any difference which is used? I'll try your
approach and let you know how it goes.

Can you think of a reason why iTunes can't locate some files, the ones with the
exclamation. And how I can get iTunes to locate the files?

Thanks for the help,
Jay
