[Apple iPod] Re: Anything other than iTunes Software?

I'm glad to see that someone has referred the original poster to
third-party software which may do the job iTunes does so well.

Frankly, for this ol' guy in the Medicare generation, the iPod, the
iPhone and my five Macs are the best thing technologically that have
come along forever. I can still remember my family's first "Hi-Fi"
set that played real records and the radio. Fast forwarding, 30
years ago I was still collecting records and then taping them to
audio tapes for use in my car. CDs were a miracle, and my first CD
automotive stacking device stored 6 of them to play in my motor
home's audio system. A Sony CD turn-table thingy did the same here
at home. I thought that was pretty slick.

With my Macs and the iPod, I don't need a CD stacking device. I play
both music and radio stations wirelessly via an Apple Airport router
on our new "home entertainment" system from the iMac via iTunes, and
my truck and new RV both have connections to play the iPod's
collection of thousands of songs through excellent sound systems.
The truck (a Dodge Ram 2500) even came with a device built in that
has full bluetooth and pushbutton capability to make and receive
phone calls from my iPhone and I hear the calls on its sound system.
I push one button on the truck's rear-view mirror to answer the
iPhone or make a call.

I'll bet the original poster has either cable or satellite TV. Why
not spring for cable internet and its six or nine Mbps download/
streaming speed instead of that tired ol' dial-up? While it's
somewhat more expensive that dial-up (maybe $39 v. $20 -- we got it
separately because we have Direct-TV), that's a small price to pay
for your entire family's enjoyment of the Internet and its vast
capabilities. Even DSL over your phone line is much better than dial-
up. I bought DSL for about $20/month for one of my daughters as a
gift one year from dslextreme.com, and I'm sure there are others out
there similarly priced. Our four grandchildren (the oldest is 6)
routinely play children's games over the Internet, and other great
stuff for them is so much better than sitting in front of the TV
watching an endless loop of movies, Emma, Sponge Bob, or the like.

BTW, I can best describe my many years suffering with Windoze and MS-
DOS as being years spent in the wilderness. I haven't bought a
virus, malware or similar program now in two years, either for my
business or here at home. The blue screen of death is a thing of the
past, and the Mac's many software goodies are just amazing. Couldn't
be happier. And, Apple support when I need it is domestic and they
answer the phone within a minute or two.

All just my 2-cents worth.

these Macs using either Photoshop Elements or iPhoto.
