[Apple iPod] rebuilding a library

When I started with my iPod I had the check box labeled "Copy files to
iTunes music folder when adding to library" This cause my space usage
to double when I added songs from "my music folder" to to my iPod. Is
there a way to "rebuild" my iTunes library so that I remove the
"duplicates" kind of the opposite of the consolidate library command
from the advanced menu?

Windows XP sp2
iTunes 7.6.1.9
Ipod Class 80 gb w/ software 1.1.1
