Hi, there are free alternatives to iTunes. You won't be able to update
the iPod firmware with those, however. I recommend you go to
ilounge.com and browse around the 3rd party software forum
(http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16). You'll find the
names of these other programs plus links and help.

I personally don't like iTunes either, but my computer can handle it
so I use it b/c it is more convenient than using something else, which
is why I can't offer a recommendation for a particular program.
