[Apple iPod] New iTouch won't sync

I bought my husband a new iTouch for his 60th birthday. I was very excited
about giving it to him with music and golf videos pre-loaded. However, it will
not sync with iTunes on my computer! I have tried everything, reinstalling
iTunes, etc. This is SO frustrating. Any ideas to help me? Thank you!
