[Apple iPod] iPod No Longer Recognized by iTunes or as a removable drive

I have a 30Gb 5th generation iPod. Its a couple years old and I never
had trouble with it until the other day, iTunes would not recognize
it. I tried 3 different cables and 3 other computers...none of which
would recognize the device. It also does not charge using a USB port
of a computer anymore. It WILL charge using the same cable plugged
into a wall charger or 12 car adapter to USB plug. Any ideas? I have
done a soft reset, and put it in disk mode but still not recognized.
