Simply go into Preferences > Advanced > Importing and change Import
Using to 128 k. OK that.
Now, select all tracks > right-click > Convert selection to... Leave
the old tracks selected and you can delete them all with a single
command afterwards (if you are *sure*).
FWIW 128 might OK for AAC but for MP3 I reckon you need 160 VBR for
good quality. Better to restrict what goes onto the iPod by using one
of the other sync options than to reduce quality IMO.
