[applekeynote] Issues Exporting to Quicktime

I ran into a real challenging issue this week when exporting a recorded slideshow
(transition timings synced to recorded narration track) to QuickTime to be used within
iDVD.

The transitions between slides as well as some internal builds on the resulting H.264
exported QT lost sync with the narration and/or were absent all together. For example, a
wipe or "fade through color" transition became a cut or "appear" transition.

I did some searching and found mention of this issue related perhaps to the recent QT
upgrade and version 4.0.1 of KN.

I tried exporting using different codecs and even took a forum suggestion of reinstalling
Keynote to revert back to 4.0.

Reverting to 4.0 seemed to help as the preview window showed the exported movie
looking/working normal. However at the end of the export process, I got the dreaded "The
file could not be saved as there is not enough disk space or there is a problem with the
file." error dialog. I had plenty of disk space, so I went back to trouble shooting.

I found a post talking about an old bug in KN 2 and 3 that you had to check the "Exit
presentation after last slide" preference and/or trash your preference file to work around
this erroneous error dialog. I tried both options to no avail.

I was on deadline so I hooked up my laptop to an old Sony 1024 scan convertor and
digitized it as video on another system -- an AVI file in Premiere Pro on a PC (you know
how much I hated having to do that) -- and exported it from there as an H.264 QT movie
and used that in my iDVD project.

Anyone else experience this issue recently or know of a workaround or fix?
