By looking at the 'Summary' tab at 'Get Info', I can see that whenever I convert a track to mp3, the resulting volume is in the region of -7.2dB to -7.4dB, whereas tracks that others might send me about -3dB or -4dB. Is there a setting in iTunes whereby I can change the automatic volume level when converting files to mp3?
I had previously noticed that there was quite a volume 'drop' when I would start converting a file from a CD (with the 'Importing' preference set to 'Play songs while importing or converting') between the initial part of the playback, which is presumably directly from the CD, and the latter part of the playback which seamlessly clicks in after the file conversion is completed.
TIA
Steve (UK)
