When you launch iTunes, just after you launch it, press the Option key
on Mac (it'd be either Shift or Ctrl on Windows) to get a dialog
asking you to choose a library, or create a new one. So I made a new
one, and when I plan to rip a lot of CDs - such as when I get a new
box set of classical music - I switch to my "Ripping Library". Then,
after I've ripped, I put all the tracks in a playlist, then choose
File > Export Playlist. I quit iTunes, launch and select my main
library, then choose File > Import Playlist to import the track
information (the files are already in the right location).
