[Apple iPod] iPod Shuffle question

Hi everyone,
is there any way I can put podcasts on the shuffle and then have them played back in exactly
the sequence in which I loaded them?
So far it seems to group them together. For example if I load a podcast SpanishSense, then
Frenchpodcast, then another SpanishSense and another Frenchpodcast, it will first play the
two Spanish ones and then the two French.
My granddaughter told me to make a playlist and then load it onto the shuffle, and the items
would stay in the order they were in the playlist. Not so. They got sorted just as before.
Anything I can do short of buying a nano?

Thanks,
Gudrun
