[Apple iPod] ipod music transfer

I fell in love with the new ipod nano but am a bit worried about how to
manage my music etc on it. In the paste I have used Itunes on my
computer and found it very confusing to use. At the moment I have an MP3
player that is just like a hard drive and I just copy and paste my
music-books etc right on it. When I want a change I just delete and copy
different things on and find it pretty easy to do. I create folders and
subfolders etc and can create playlists internally.

I have about 100 go of music and books and would only be buying an 8 go
ipod so need to be able to move things around quite easily.

How would I go about this ?
