>>Can you actually edit the ID tags in Win Explorer? I wasn't aware that
that was possible, and it would be even stranger that you could do
this and yet not do it using iTunes.<<
In Windows Explorer (I'm using Vista), right-click on the .mp3
filename, left-click on 'Properties' (at the bottom of the list), left-
click on the 'Details' tab. Edit the fields and click OK. But, as I
said in an earlier message, only some of those edited fields will be
read back in iTunes (or vice versa). Now, through various messages
here, and doing a bit of reading, I'm understanding why this is.
In (Vista) Windows Explorer, you can check/uncheck the fieldnames
by right-clicking on the top bar, and you can move the columns around
by dragging, as in Excel, for instance. This is similar to iTunes.
One thing that I cannot get Vista to display, which was
available/standard in Windows XP, is a column to tell me the date on
which a particular file was created. I get this information OK in
standard data files, but not in media files (music or video). Perhaps
there is a setting that I need to change? If there are any other Vista
users out there who can help me on this, I would be grateful.
Regards
Steve
