[applekeynote] Apply instant alpha to second image of build?

Calling all experts!

Im using a gradient background. The first image of the build is the
obverse of a coin against a black background. Instant alpha removes
the background fine.
the build out is a flip to the reverse of the coin, similarly on a
black background. I can't get the Instant Alpha too to work on this
image; it's greyed out.

Can anyone tell me how this is accomplished?
