Re: [applekeynote] TED and Keynote

I just got those apps Les, Very cool and useful.

Two other thoughts. Vimeo offers higher-res videos than YouTube and is also supported by Web2Delight.

I can't remember the other thought. Must be Friday. Or Saturday where you are,

Oh well.

I'll write later.

I'm not sure the percentages, but I'm guessing that TED really came on
the map for many non-attendees (it was certainly unknown to me) after
Al Gore presented his prelude to An Inconvenient Truth at TED several
years back, and it then became known he used Keynote with the help of
Duarte, something Apple itself later featured on its homepage.

Using Gore as a starting point, one of the ideas I featured in the
Adventist and Macworld presentations was the increased frequency of
presentation tools in mainstream media, such that more and more
audiences, especially young people, are becoming increasingly
sophisticated in their expectations of what a good presentation should
look like, or at least what ot needs to get and keep their attention.

So I showed an edited form of the opening sequence of Da Vinci Code;
some sequences from an Australian media-criticism current affairs
program; and the opening sequence to the new TV show "Lie to Me",
which features many Macs in action.

At some point I was asked how I download YouTube videos into my
presentation - in both talks I gave by the way - and suggested using
versiontracker.com to locate such apps.

Personally, I have used TubeTV in the past, but at Macworld I located
a new Indian company with two apps to its credit: Web2 Delight with
easy YouTube (and several other movie and pic sites) download and
conversion features; and Voila, a screenshot app with some very nice
image manipulation abilities which fits nicely into my workflow and
slide creation style.

May I suggest you take a look at the website and if they appeal, spend
a little time downloading the trial apps, and playing. The apps are
very Mac-like in look and feel.
