If you are talking about an image that has been imported to KN that you want to enlarge, it's possible that the resolution is being reduced upon import. In prefs, check  Genera tab and make sure the box for Reduce Placed Images... is unchecked. But only if you want to enlarge after importing. If you leave it unchecked, full size images are used which can really bloat your file size. 

To check this, right click the KN file and Check Package Contents. You can compare the file size of the imported photo vs. the original.
