So does anyone know if Google has a separate search engine for these (at the link provided), or if these newly added photo's come up with a "vanilla" image search on the Google main page?

I did notice that when clicking a link on the Life page, it puts "source:Life" in the search string....

Make sure you keep an eye on Life.com

Nothing is happening on the site yet but I guess soon.

Google is going to offer the Life Magazine archive for FREE (with
ongoing new photos).

I assume if you want to use them for commercial purposes they will be
happy to charge you a few bucks.
The days of the gouging stock photo companies is soon over. Getty!
Bwaaahahaaaa.

Isn't it nice that a company like Google uses some of it's profits to
buy an asset like
the Life archive and instead of hording it and charging hundreds per
image (old school) they think of a new model of doing business.
One where it's free for most folks and affordable when you do want to
use it for professional use.
The volume of use due to affordability makes them the $.
Genius!
