Replying to my own post: I was mistaken. The effect I was referring to is actually not scrolling text, but rather, a ticker at the bottom of the slide which contains scrolling text. Regardless, this is also a cool effect.

Hi, I'm Steve and I found your question from one of my "google alerts" I do a lot of work in Keynote. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking but I quickly made an example movie and posted it. Check it and tell me if this is what you are referring to with scrolling text.
