It really is very easy once you have used one for about 5 minutes, but there
are some basics you need to understand.
iPods are not designed like some other players where you just drag music
files into them. They are designed to connect with iTunes on a Mac or PC and
music is then synced (copied) across according to criteria you set. The
default is to copy everything. If there's not enough room you get asked what
you want to do.
In preparation, download iTunes from
<http://www.apple. com/itunes/ download/>
and install it. Decide what bit-rate (quality) you want. The default is AAC
at 128 k. I use MP3 at 160 k VBR. MP3s will play on anything so if you want
to use a player other than an iPod you don't have to convert all your music.
Import a few CDs into iTunes and see how it works. iTunes is *not* just for
iPods. It is a library app for managing and playing music (and podcasts and
videos) and can be used as a server over a network too.
Of course, you will read the FAQ. :)
What do you mean by your car having an MP3 system? Does it have a socket for
connecting an MP3 player, or does it just play MP3 CDs?
