You would be able to play the iPod through the radio speakers but it would not charge it. The way you describe it it sounds like they may sell a special cable for that radio to control an iPod.
What is the radio model and brand?

Yes, it does and an electrical connection just above it. I don't know
what type of cable to buy to connect an iPod to this aux jack. I
