This assumes you live anywhere near an Apple Store.

Subject: [Apple iPod] Firmware Corrupt Error Message - iPhone 2.0 Update
I bought an iTouch 8GB and when I plugged its cable in, on the
iTunes screen on my desktop computer running Windows Vista, I saw
that my iTouch was not running the latest software and there was an
Update available for the iPhone 2.0 Update
I had previously downloaded the latest version of both iTunes and
Quick Time successfully.
I want to be able to install the iPhone 2.0 Update so that I can buy
and use Apps on my iTouch.
I am on a slow Dial-Up Connection and my ISP is AOL 9.1, so the
iPhone 2.0 Update took 12 hours to download. After all that time, it
could NOT be installed and I got the error message: download could
not be installed because the Firmware was corrupt.
I have now tried SIX times to download & install the iPhone 2.0
Update and EVERY time I got that "Firmware corrupt" error message.
I followed the instructions from the Apple Support website to locate
the iPhone 2.0 Update folder on my computer's hard drive. I did find
that folder and deleted it. Then plugged iTouch back in and tried to
download iPhone 2.0 update again. And again I received that same
error message.
I went thru my desktop computer settings and disabled anything I
could think of that might be interfering with the long download.. I
disabled all these:
All Mcaffee Security Virus programs and Automatic Updates, Firewall,
Spyware Checker, Windows Defender, Windows Automatic Updates, Ring
Central for Pagoo phone service. And I canceled any programs I had
set to run automatically.
The last few attempts to download iPhone 2.0 Update, I tried
downloading it late at night and did nothing else with my computer
during the download.. Didn't use the computer at all, just let it
alone to download iPhone 2.0 Update.
After 12 hours, iPhone 2.0 Update was downloaded but could NOT
Install, and I got that same error message about "Firmware corrupt".
Each time, before re-trying to download iPhone 2.0 Update, I went
back and deleted the previously placed iPhone 2.0 Update folder from
my desktop computer's hard drive.
I sure would like some help with this! I am getting mighty tired of
unsuccessful 12 hour downloads!
