installing iTunes. You have simply made work for yourself when iTunes can do
it all. I would:-
Delete every song in iTunes on the PC. (Select all, delete, confirm Remove,
Move to Trash/Recycle Bin). Empty the Trash.
In iTunes Preferences > Advanced > General, ensure that you have
Keep iTunes Music Folder organized and
Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library
selected. OK that to save the changes, if any.
Connect the external drive. Using iTunes > File > Add to Library, navigate
to the top-level music folder on the external and select it. iTunes will now
copy all the files to the PC in the normal Artist > Album > Song structure.
There will be no duplicates unless you had some to start with.
