[applekeynote] Re: problems printing handouts

Jon's solution should work for this purpose, with one addition
mentioned in another reply.

First, select "Page Setup" and change your presentation to
"Portrait",
then "Print" > "Keynote" > "Handout" (select your preferred number of
slides per page) > de-select "Draft-quality printout" > "Add rule
lines" (if you are expecting your audience to jot notes).

I just tested this with a recent Keynote file and the printout was
beautiful and crisp (I am using KN 4.0.3 and printing on a big
Konica-Minolta laser printer/copier)
