[Apple iPod] iPod as External drive

I went looking through the group on Yahoo and either I'm mistaken or I
just don't get the right combination of words
I have an 80Gb Classic and I'm thinking I've seen where it can be
used as an external drive simultaneously with using it as an iPod.
Can someone tell me it's true or it isn't, if if it's been covered
maybe point me to the appropriate subject phrase.
