OK, Otto I have also faced this problem but its on my Windows PC. Yeah, so what you have to do is to uninstall the driver for your iPod & you better have a back up of all your songs then you uninstall iTunes. Restart your PC & there you go. Its worked for me on Windows, I'm kind of not sure weather this trick will work on MAC but still try again.
