I got it for converting my books-on-tape. At $30 to $50 per book, it
paid for itself pretty quickly. It's not fast - it transfers tapes in
real time (a 1-hour tape takes 1 hour to transfer). I use Audacity
software (free) to import the tapes:

If you have records to import, the same company has a device for you:

These may not be audiophile quality, but they get the job done. The
device I have is perfect for my needs. YMMV.

you'll need the cassette deck hocked to a stereo and then hock the
stereo to the Line In. But to be honest, unless you have cassettes
that are one of a kind and you can't get the tunes anywhere else, I
would bother; the quality of cassettes is pretty bad.
