[Apple iPod] Duplicate copies of a CD downloaded my itunes

I have a new a ipod classic. I downloaded many of my CD's. For some reason two CD's
grouped together made 9 copies on my ipod of each of 2 CD's, like this:
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
Edith Piaf
James Taylor
In addition, the James Taylor CD has migrated some songs to a Cat Stevens CD. My itunes
library is normal with no duplicates.

Any ideas?
