When you consolidate, iTunes does not delete any files, but it copies
them to the chosen location. To have new files go to a different
location, you need to change the Advanced prefs to select the location
for the iTunes Music folder. However, if you have consolidated and all
your music is on E, then the new stuff should go there too.

I'd start by changing the iTunes Music folder location, then
consolidating. Check that everything has been copied, then try ripping
a new CD.
